Reusable Bags Hit The Red Carpet
Hollywood has long been associated with being one of the most fashionable cities in the world where style changes all the time. Today, more and more celebrities and Tinseltown beauties are choosing fashionable items that are also green. Numerous stars have graced the front page of Hollywood magazines sporting the latest green reusable shopping bags.
Once again it is becoming fashionable to be environmentally friendly. Those of you that are fellow children of the sixties and seventies should be able to recall similar times. Today, thinking green is a way of life.
All things environmentally friendly and sustainable are loosely being placed under the Green umbrella. Anything that we can do today to have a positive impact on our environment and preserve it for tomorrow is fair game in the movement. Entire companies and cities are going green, implementing new ways of doing this to conserve energy, reduce waste, recycle, and so on. A lot of concern is being paid to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, decreasing water pollution, using our landfills less, and preserving natural areas.
However, it s hard for all of us to see how we can make an impact in our daily lives. One way that is catching on with the movie stars in Hollywood is using reusable bags. It s simple and effective and is something that we can all do easily. There are a number of reusable bags out there these days, all of which are meant to serve a different purpose.
The reusable shopping bag or tote is meant to replace plastic shopping bags, which became a way of life for shoppers in the 70 s. Why? The EPA estimates that the US consumes over 380 billion plastic bags each year and China estimates that their citizens consume 3 billion plastic bags every day! The problem with plastic bags is that they have a harmful impact on our environment. They do not biodegrate which means they cannot naturally break down to environmentally friendly tiny pieces. Instead, they break down to small toxic bits that make their way in to our waterways and soil and are ingested by animals and kill plants
