Winter Weddings by John Smith
A winter wedding is something that can be truly magical for people to experience. A winter wedding is often times overlooked as most are stuck on the vision of a dream wedding in the summer. Here are my favourite reasons why you should definitely get your wedding in the winter or at least consider it.
Why a winter wedding?
There are several good reasons why you would go of the normal path and decide to have your wedding in the season of winter. The most simple reasons? I have to say that you and your partner might just not enjoy the idea of the hot sun! Or maybe winter is your favourite time of year. Another factor could be that you just want to buck the trend. Another factor could be that you really want to have a winter wedding so that the honeymoon is super enjoyable.
In terms of economics you are going to save a big bundle simply because large venues cut their prices by a massive scale. Remember too that some places routinely decorate for the holidays; So in comparison to a wedding taking place in the summer you are going to save a lot of money. And with all that snow – just imagine the photo opportunities! There are going to be a ton of different creative opportunities you are going to be able to play around with when it comes down to your wedding, the imagination is literally the limit.
You may be wondering exactly how a winter wedding differs to that of a summer wedding.
A wedding done in the winter is significantly less expensive than one done in the summer. And you won’t have to worry about poor weather ruining your outdoor event. But you are going to have to keep in mind that a lot of people travel to warmer climates during the winter so you are going to have to give them plenty of notice.
You might be wondering exactly how you can have a better experience with a winter wedding?
Here are some of the ways you can use the winter environment to make your wedding that much more special. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
1. Many reception halls, churches, and other venues decorate for the winter holidays. These decorations are going to add a lot of character to your wedding. To give that sense of warmth and intimacy you should check out places with a fireplace, a mansion or just a private club. Some other decorations you can consider can be a wedding cake that is all white with silver snowflakes. ice or sugar sculptures; or centrepieces made of sprigs of cranberries surrounding pillar candles.
Number 2: Watch out and try to go for the photographer that is really able to capture the delights of winter in the photos that he or she takes. For those that are wanting to have their photos done outside you are going to have to wear something warm. Work with your photographer and all your guests to take some amazing pictures. Skilled photographers will be able to capture the sparkling white snow while portraying you and your groom at your best. Other possible props include ice sculptures, holiday decor such as poinsettias, or cute boots sticking out from under your dress.
3. Give your guests that extra warm welcome by presenting them with some hot chocolate upon their arrival. Possible party favours include spiced hot chocolate mix, snow globes, or dressed-up holiday cookie cutters.
Winter weddings offer the best of both worlds: tons of options from which to choose, and lower pricing for it all. If you’re dreaming of your big day but haven’t chosen a date yet, be sure to give the winter season some serious consideration and book that wedding photographer!
